The story Of Craigslist

Craigslist
The Story of Craig Keshawn Jackson:Hustleman turned Entrepreneur
April 23rd, 1995, after being released from prison for the third time onto the rough streets of south Compton, 20 year old Craig Jackson set out to change his life and get an honest job. Unfortunately, Craig could not escape his past. Being unemployed for 3 months Craig decided to take matters into his own hands. Not wanting to sell drugs the next best thing he could do was sale Cds & Dvds. Offering the lowest prices he started building clientele in barbershops & hair shops all throughout Compton and eventually spreading to a few shops in Inglewood and Long Beach. Overtime Craig made a Bootleg Monopoly in his community. Being in such high demand the people at the barbershops would write a list of wants and it was deemed “Craigslist”. First solely asking for different movies & cds, but every once in awhile he would get inquiries on TV’s, furniture, etc. Being the entrepreneur he was he decided to expand his hustle to whatever the people needed.
In Early 1998, Craig’s best friend Rashad was released from county jail in connection with the same charges as Craig. While incarcerated Craig’s friend had taken a few Computer classes and decided that it would be beneficial to Craig’s “business” to start a message board for people can post from anywhere what they needed. It was first called “CraigGOTit” but didn’t really go by as well as they wanted. But Craig still made his rounds around the shops to pick up the “Craigslists”. On one unrecorded day one unkown young boy suggested “Aye Homie U should Call your messageboard Craigslist that would make you an OG!”. Something must have clicked in Craig’s mind because he immediately changed the name. And luckily the messageboard caught on and his audience literally grew over night! And ever since then its Been History~
This message board eventually grew into the 8th most popular website known to date www.craigs list.com.
Craig & Rashad are both mutli-millionaires………………………… still living in Compton.
